PSG agree deal in principle for Barcelona's Torres

Paris St-Germain (PSG) have agreed a deal in principle to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres. The Spanish club will pay around 50 million euros (£42.7 million) for the 26-year-old player. Torres was recently granted permission to miss training as he finalized his move to the French side. He helped Spain claim their second men's World Cup title this summer by scoring the extra-time winner against Argentina.

Torres has been an impressive presence at Barcelona, scoring 21 goals in 49 appearances across all competitions, and contributing three assists. His contributions were crucial in helping Barcelona win the La Liga title. PSG, under the management of former Barcelona player and coach Luis Enrique, have secured the Champions League trophy for the past two seasons.

The club might part with Bradley Barcola this summer, as he is sought after by Liverpool. If the agreement with Barcelona comes to fruition, Torres will be the second high-profile forward to join PSG this summer after Moroccan striker Maghnes Akliouche arrived from Monaco. On Wednesday, PSG added to their trophy haul by defeating Aston Villa 2-1, claiming the UEFA Super Cup.

Torres has been a part of Barcelona since 2022, after an earlier stint at Manchester City. In international football, he has represented Spain since 2022, scoring 25 goals in 65 appearances for his country.
