I sold pure water, rubber bags – Ras Kuuku recalls life before fame

Ghanaian reggae-dancehall musician Ras Kuuku, formerly Kojo Kurankye, has shared the hardships he faced before achieving success in the music industry. Growing up in Dome, Accra, after his mother's death, he sold various items like pure water, food, and rubber bags to support himself. Raised by his aunt, he received an education despite her insistence on engaging in petty trading.

After moving to Nungua Presby, he continued his studies while working to make ends meet. An interesting aspect of his early education involved skipping classes to be in the same grade as his aunt's son. Despite the challenges, Ras Kuuku never lost sight of his dreams. Initially, he aspired to become a footballer, excelling in the sport.

However, his path to success was ultimately paved by music, transforming him from a vendor into a celebrated Ghanaian artist.
