President Sheikh Mohamed directs $10 million in aid to Colombia earthquake relief efforts

The UAE has pledged $10 million in aid to help Colombia recover from a devastating earthquake that claimed over 265 lives. President Sheikh Mohamed directed this financial assistance as part of his country's responsibility to bolster global relief operations, according to state news agency Wam. UAE teams are racing to provide crucial support, including medical supplies, food, and shelter materials, to those affected by the disaster.

Dr Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, emphasized their efforts to expedite aid delivery based on current needs, aiming to ease the suffering of the affected population while promoting early recovery and stability restoration in the impacted areas. This significant contribution underscores the UAE's dedication to aiding victims of various humanitarian crises and ensuring that aid reaches all communities promptly.

The South American nation experienced the seismic shock on Monday near San Jose del Palmar in Choco province. In a phone conversation on Thursday, Sheikh Mohamed conveyed his deepest sympathies to the earthquake victims and extended his best wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured. He also expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and reaffirmed the UAE's unwavering solidarity with the Colombian government and its people.

Mr de la Espriella, the newly sworn-in Colombian president, thanked Sheikh Mohamed for the UAE's response to the humanitarian crisis.
