Prabowo Says Army, Police Chiefs 'Deserve Top Posts' for Their Service

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto commended Army Chief of Staff Gen. Maruli Simanjuntak and National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, stating that their exceptional performance, service, and capabilities warranted their appointment to the top military and police positions. The President made these remarks during a virtual ceremony at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, where he marked the completion of 3,395 bridges constructed by the Indonesian Military (TNI) and 3,000 clean water sources built by the Army in Bayah, Lebak Regency, Banten.

"I believe that a soldier like Maruli Simanjuntak deserves the highest ranking in the Army due to his outstanding work and service," Prabowo asserted. "Similarly, I am convinced that Gen. Listyo's attainment of the highest position in the police force is well-deserved because of his remarkable achievements, dedication, and capabilities."

Prabowo stated that he had closely observed Maruli's various initiatives before he became Army chief. He emphasized that the public service rendered by individuals, officials, and leaders would inevitably be noticed and remembered by the public.

"All good deeds, all good service by individuals, officials, and leaders are ultimately observed, recorded, and remembered by the people," Prabowo declared.

The President's praise came as he highlighted the TNI and police efforts to improve basic infrastructure, such as bridges and clean water facilities, for communities. Prabowo noted that Maruli and Listyo had exhibited strong leadership through initiatives that provided tangible benefits to the public.

"We have worked together, and you have understood what it means to be a leader. You have understood how fulfilling it is when we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our people," Prabowo remarked.

Accompanied by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, the President delivered his virtual address from Merdeka Palace.
