Police arrest 10 suspects, recover cash, cattle, vehicles in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Command has apprehended ten suspects and recovered various items, including vehicles, livestock, counterfeit currency, and other materials, during a series of operations across the state. These operations took place in Taura, Malam Madori, Hadejia, Birniwa, Kirikasamma, and Kaugama local government areas following credible intelligence and routine patrols. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, revealed these details in a statement issued on Thursday, August 13, 2026.

In addition to the recovered items, the police also recovered a mobile phone and vandalized electric cables. The operations were carried out in collaboration with a local vigilante group. Among those arrested were individuals such as Muntari Ibrahim, 25, of Gidan Naruwa Settlement in Taura; Bura Manu, 35; and others, including Hussaini Umar, 24, of Potiskum, Yobe State, who is accused of defrauding a victim of N2.661 million by promising to supply US dollars and sending a false credit alert of N23.57 million to the victim's account.

The police stated that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other fugitives from various criminal groups involved in these activities. The suspects are anticipated to be charged following the completion of the investigations.
