PKR national congress to begin tomorrow with over 5,000 delegates, observers

The 2026 PKR national congress is set to commence tomorrow at the Melaka International Trade Centre, with over 2,500 delegates and 3,000 observers anticipated. The event kicks off with PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar officiating the combined congresses of the Angkatan Muda Keadilan and Wanita PKR. The program is slated to conclude on Saturday with the official inauguration of the congress and a policy address by PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

A diverse array of foreign envoys, such as those from the United States, China, Japan, and Australia, are confirmed to participate, alongside leaders of other political parties. This year's congress, themed "Memugar Reformasi, Membina Madani," aims to reinvigorate the reform ethos inherent in PKR's establishment while tailoring its political strategy to address contemporary challenges in constructing a modern Malaysia.

PKR 2026 national congress director Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad foresees the debates centering on economic, educational, and political matters, with 16 representatives from the party's wings and states slated to deliberate on the president's policy exposition. As in prior congresses, the Bill Kayong Award will be bestowed upon five families for recognizing the contributions of their family members who served the party until their passing.

The event will also benefit from the support of several ministries and agencies, including the National Registration Department, Immigration Department, the police, and the Registrar of Societies. The Melaka Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) will host a Mega Rahmah Carnival to extend direct services to delegates, observers, and the local populace of Melaka. Anwar is slated to conclude the debates on Sunday, followed by the dissolution of the congress.
