PDP: For APC, Election is War, Blood is the Price for Power

Abuja - The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticized the All Progressive Congress (APC) over the violent atmosphere surrounding the upcoming election in Osun State, alleging that the ruling party considers election to be a war where bloodshed is the cost of power. In a statement released by the Party's National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, the PDP condemned Senator Francis Fadahunsi's statement in a viral video where he said, "If we see them, it is killing" until the day of the election.

The PDP noted that these uncivilized and appalling remarks are not surprising, coming from a party whose presidential candidate has publicly stated, "Political power is not going to be served in a restaurant. At all cost, fight for it, grab it, and run with it," and that "all is fair in politics." The party's statement highlights that such inflammatory rhetoric has contributed to the heightened political tension in the nation, creating an unprecedented fever-pitch atmosphere.

The PDP argues that elections are meant to be a platform for the public to choose their leaders freely, but instead, they face a ruling party that has normalized a warlike approach, threatening the electorate, silencing opposition, and attempting to manipulate the electoral process in 2027. In response, the PDP demands a transparent investigation into the Senator Fadahunsi incident and other threats to peaceful and fair elections in Osun State.

Furthermore, the PDP urges the President of the APC and their officials to cease the dissemination of anti-democratic narratives and threats masquerading as political communication. They insist that civility must become the centerpiece of political discourse and that the elections must accurately reflect the will of the people, freely expressed through the ballot.
