PAS mahu haram judi: MCA bidas pemimpin DAP cuba jadi ‘batu api’

The leaders of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), Chong Sin Woon and Mike Chong, have targeted the deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Chong Zhemin, from the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS) for attempting to be a "firebrand." This action followed Chong Zhemin's attempt to incite the MCA and the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) in response to a statement made by a PAS leader regarding gambling.

MCA Deputy Secretary-General Chong Sin Woon criticized Chong Zhemin for always seeking conflict with MCA, and expressed his desire for Zhemin to reflect on his actions before questioning MCA about the statement from PAS. Former Central Kuala Lumpur Public Relations Director of PAS, Mohd Nor Hamzah, urged the Muslim electorate to support PAS in taking over Putrajaya to ensure that the proposal for the cancellation of the permit for gambling establishments at the federal level could be finalized.

This demand came after the Federal Court's decision, which rejected the Kedah state's request for clarification on the proposal to cancel the order to stop the issuance and renewal of permits for gambling establishments in Kedah, confirming that the authority and legislation related to the approval of gambling permits are within the jurisdiction of the federal government, not the state governments.

Despite the possibility of cooperation between the Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional in the 16th general election, Sin Woon emphasized that the core of the federal government should not take guidance from any party or perspective. He urged Chong Zhemin not to act naively by inciting MCA and MIC in this matter. Mike Chong, the deputy head of MCA Youth, stated that the PAS leader's statement on a particular issue needed to be viewed in a more mature context.

If it is a viewpoint based on religious beliefs of a Muslim, it does not automatically become a basis for the nation. Any change in the nation's basis is a matter that needs to be discussed together by the parties forming the government, taking into account the Constitution, existing laws, the interests of all ethnic groups, and public opinion.

Mike also questioned Zhemin's actions, as he only directed the question to MCA and MIC, and warned that every time a PAS leader makes a statement, DAP should continue to incite MCA and MIC into responding as if the PAS leader's viewpoint had already been established as the basis for the government or the federal and coalition basis yet to be decided.
