PAS mahu haram judi: MCA bidas pemimpin DAP cuba jadi ‘batu api’

PAS Leader Chong Sin Woon and MCA's Chong Zhemin have been targeted by the DAP due to their attempts to criticize MCA and MIC in response to a PAS leader's statement on gambling. Chong Zhemin, a Kampar MP, is known for always seeking an opportunity to confront MCA. The MCA Secretary General Chong Sin Woon requested Zhemin to reflect on his actions before questioning MCA about the PAS statement, as DAP previously cooperated with PAS three times.

He advised Zhemin not to constantly try to act as a "flaming stone" against any statement from PAS. Earlier, PAS Central Information Bureau head Mohd Nor Hamzah urged Muslim voters to support his party to take over Putrajaya, ensuring that the betting venue legalization permit could be finalized at the federal level. This came after the Federal Court rejected the Kedah government's petition for a ruling to overturn the order to suspend the issuance and renewal of betting venue permits in Kedah.

The decision confirmed that the authority and legislation related to the approval of betting venue permits fall under the federal government's jurisdiction, not the state government. Despite the talk of potential collaboration between the Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional in the 16th General Election, Sin Woon emphasized that the fundamental foundations of the federal government must prioritize the approval of the Cabinet and not the opinions of any individual.

Therefore, Zhemin should not act naively by trying to provoke MCA and MIC in such a situation, Sin Woon said. Meanwhile, MCA Deputy Youth Leader Mike Chong stated that the PAS leader's statement on a particular issue should be viewed in a more mature context. If it is a viewpoint based on the religious beliefs of a Muslim, it does not automatically become a basis for the nation.

Any change in national foundations is a matter that must be discussed jointly by the parties forming the government, taking into account the Constitution, existing laws, the interests of all communities, and public opinion. It is not the absolute right of any single party, Mike added. Mike also questioned Zhemin's action for posing the question only to MCA and MIC.

He urged that every time a PAS leader offers a viewpoint, DAP should not continue trying to provoke MCA and MIC as if the PAS leader's opinion had already become the basis for the government or the coalition government yet to be determined.
