Osun poll: NSCDC vows action against election disruptors

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has pledged to take decisive action against any individuals or groups attempting to disrupt the upcoming August 15 governorship election in Osun State. Commandant-General Abubakar Audi made the commitment during a security assessment visit to the state, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining peace and preventing any form of bloodshed.

During the visit, Audi held discussions with the state's governor, Ademola Adeleke, and officials from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Adeleke expressed concerns over recent security threats, alleging that political factions aimed to intimidate voters ahead of the election. As a result, the governor urged the NSCDC to deploy sufficient personnel to neutralize these threats and arrest any individuals planning violence or seeking to disrupt the election.

Audi discussed the NSCDC's role in protecting critical national assets, including electoral materials and facilities, and assured INEC of their full operational support. They emphasized the importance of the NSCDC as an integral part of election security, pledging to collaborate closely with other security agencies, such as the Nigeria Police Force. The NSCDC reiterated its commitment to ensuring a secure environment for citizens to exercise their voting rights without interference or intimidation.
