Osun poll: A’Ibom CP warns deployed officers against misconduct

The Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has cautioned police officers deployed for election duty in Osun State against engaging in unprofessional conduct. This warning was issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, ahead of the officers' deployment. Azare emphasized that election duty is a critical national responsibility and stressed that the officers' behavior must exemplify the integrity, discipline, and professionalism expected of Nigeria Police Force personnel.

He urged them to remain neutral and professional, warning against any involvement by political parties, individuals, or candidates. The police chief cautioned against partisanship, voter intimidation, extortion, harassment, use of unnecessary force, incivility, abandonment of duty posts, and consumption of alcohol while on duty.

Azare also reminded the officers about the Inspector-General of Police’s Social Media Policy, which prohibits posting, livestreaming, sharing, or circulating materials related to sensitive election operations that could compromise operational security or harm the Force's image. Any violation of these rules could lead to disciplinary action.

The CP further instructed the officers to travel strictly through officially approved transportation arrangements, with no officer authorized to pay for their transportation or related expenses.
