Osun poll: A’Ibom CP warns deployed officers against misconduct

According to the Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, officers deployed to Osun State for election duty have been warned against misconduct. In a statement released by the command's Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, CP Azare cautioned the officers to remain neutral and professional during their assignment.

The police chief emphasized that their conduct must reflect the integrity, discipline, and professionalism expected of Nigeria Police Force personnel. The warning included avoidance of partisanship, intimidation, extortion, harassment, unnecessary use of force, and any act that could bring the police force into disrepute. CP Azare also specifically warned against violating the Inspector-General of Police's Social Media Policy, prohibiting the posting, livestreaming, sharing or circulating of photographs, videos, comments or other materials related to election operations in a manner that could compromise operational security or harm the Force's image.

Officers were instructed to travel strictly through officially approved transportation arrangements, and any attempt to demand or collect money for transportation expenses was strictly prohibited. CP Azare urged the officers to remain under the command and control of their designated commanders, protect voters, electoral officials, and election materials, and ensure their actions contributed to a peaceful, credible, and violence-free electoral process.
