Osun election: Let peace prevail, Obi urges stakeholders

Nigerian presidential candidate Peter Obi, representing the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has urged all stakeholders to maintain peace and uphold neutrality during the upcoming Osun State governorship election on Saturday. In a statement shared on X, Obi emphasized that Osun belongs to its people and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies, political parties, candidates, government institutions, civil society organizations, religious and traditional leaders, the media, and other stakeholders to act with professionalism and restraint.

He stressed that residents should be allowed to vote freely and without intimidation, and their votes must be counted transparently and protected faithfully. Obi warned against allowing political competition to divide communities or lead to violence, urging everyone to prevent the state from being destroyed in the name of an election.

He also cautioned external politicians, supporters, influencers, and financiers to refrain from importing violence and intimidation into Osun.
