OptionMetrics brings historical and intraday options data to Snowflake

OptionMetrics has introduced its collection of historical and intraday options data and analytics through Snowflake's private cloud marketplace. This enables investors and quantitative researchers to access and analyze derivatives data without the need to manage their own storage infrastructure. By offering a cloud-based solution, OptionMetrics aims to simplify the process of working with options data for research, backtesting, volatility analysis, and risk management.

The offering encompasses IvyDB US, which is the core historical end-of-day US options database, along with an intraday version providing snapshots at 10:00am, 2:00pm, and 3:45pm Eastern Time. Additionally, the Snowflake catalogue includes IvyDB Europe, IvyDB Asia, IvyDB Canada, IvyDB Global Indices, and IvyDB Futures covering US and European futures options. These datasets cover major options markets in North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, including Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and Australia.

For quantitative investment teams, the availability of intraday data is particularly valuable for analyzing short-dated options strategies and patterns in volatility throughout the trading session. By moving its datasets into the cloud, OptionMetrics aims to make it easier for users to handle large volumes of options information without the associated infrastructure and storage requirements.

Quantitative investors and academic researchers will need a Snowflake license to access the OptionMetrics datasets through the platform.
