NIA to roll out more 24-Hour Prestige Registration Centres across Ghana

The National Identification Authority (NIA) in Ghana plans to expand the availability of identity services by establishing additional Prestige 24-Hour Registration Centres across the nation. This initiative aligns with the government's 24-Hour Economy policy, aimed at making essential services accessible at any time. The announcement was made by NIA's Chief Executive Officer, Wisdom Kwaku Deku, during a media tour of the Labone Prestige Centre, which is the first of its kind, operating continuously for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Labone facility has already seen over 60 individuals accessing services in a short time, and two more centres will be opened in Kumasi as part of the initial expansion phase. In partnership with private sector stakeholders, the NIA aims to create approximately 20 Prestige Centres nationwide, with the goal of creating around 120 direct jobs and ensuring the Ghana Card is always accessible to citizens.

Deku emphasized the importance of the Ghana Card and the necessity of providing identity services around the clock, given the 24-hour economy. The NIA encourages more private partners to join the initiative to support its expansion. Upon opening, the Labone centre has been praised by users for its fast, convenient, and efficient service.

Deku expressed the NIA's commitment to ensuring that every Ghanaian can access identity services at their convenience, day or night.
