New aircraft carrier heads toward Mideast after reports of issues on long-deployed USS Lincoln

The Pacific-based aircraft carrier USS George Washington has set sail for the Middle East, as confirmed by Navy statements and ship movement information. This follows reports of mental health and supply issues aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln, which has been deployed to the region for an extended period of over 240 days supporting the Iran war.

The USS George Washington departed from Da Nang, Vietnam, last week, and has since been seen traversing the Singapore Strait. A Navy official, speaking anonymously due to sensitive nature of the information, stated that the USS George Washington is currently in the Strait of Malacca, positioning it to enter the Indian Ocean and ultimately head towards the Middle East.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the USS George Washington is set to replace the USS Lincoln, which has been a part of the Middle East deployment. The USS Lincoln, one of two carriers stationed in the region, joined the conflict on November 21 from San Diego and arrived in the area in January, prior to the Iran war's initiation on February 28.

The Navy acknowledged that the ongoing conflict disrupted traditional supply hubs in the Middle East, resulting in shortages and lost mail aboard the USS Lincoln. The carrier's leadership prioritized essential supplies, ensuring that sailors had access to clean water and healthy meal options.
