Maxsun Terminator B850M Pro II Motherboard Review: Comparable features, but US pricing is over MSRP

Maxsun is not a well-known brand in the United States, but the China-based company has been manufacturing motherboards and other computer components since 2002. Maxsun's latest offering is the Terminator B850M Pro II, a budget-friendly Micro ATX AM5 motherboard with a black design. The board features support for high-end processors like the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2, Wi-Fi 7, and 2.5 GbE networking, along with three M.2 sockets and two SATA ports for storage. The board also includes two full-length PCIe slots for expansion.

Upon testing the board, it was found to be comparable to similarly priced B850M options in terms of performance, with average to below-average results across various tests. The board competes well in gaming and some single-threaded tasks but lags behind in heavily multi-threaded scenarios with the Ryzen 9 9900X. The specifications, as listed on the Maxsun website, include an AM5 socket, B850 chipset, and an 8-layer matte-black PCB with heatsinks covering various components.

The board comes with limited accessories, consisting of Wi-Fi antennas, two SATA cables, and a warranty card. Although there is no dedicated Windows software for monitoring, overclocking, or fan control, the BIOS serves as the primary method for managing these functions. The board is designed with a focus on blending in with various dark-themed builds, and while it does not include integrated RGB lighting, users can add it using the existing ARGB headers.
