Mark Ruffalo and Javier Bardem among artists to say 'there is no ceasefire in Gaza'

Artists4Ceasefire has released a new statement declaring that there is no ceasefire in Gaza, with notable figures like Javier Bardem, Mark Ruffalo, and Annie Lennox among the signatories. The group has been advocating for a permanent truce and the unrestricted delivery of humanitarian aid since the US-mediated ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in October 2025.

Since then, Israel has continued to launch strikes in Gaza, while accusing Hamas of breaching the agreement. The statement highlights that over 1,200 Palestinians have been killed and more than 4,000 wounded since the ceasefire was announced. Unicef reports that at least 300 children have been killed in Gaza over the past 300 days.

The Artists4Ceasefire statement also expands its focus to include violence in the occupied West Bank, criticizing settlers and Israeli soldiers for terrorizing and murdering Palestinians daily. The group emphasizes the need for a permanent ceasefire, free flow of critical aid, and an end to Palestinian human rights violations. They believe Palestinians and Israelis must coexist in freedom, justice, and equity.

The Artists4Ceasefire coalition, which includes high-profile figures like Billie Eilish, Cate Blanchett, Joaquin Phoenix, and Dua Lipa, continues to garner support amid ongoing criticism of Israeli military actions in Gaza, with several Gulf nations condemning the loss of civilian life in a joint statement.
