33 Pakistani scholars to pursue fully funded studies in UK under Chevening, Commonwealth scholarships

The British High Commission in Islamabad announced that 33 Pakistani scholars are set to embark on fully-funded postgraduate education in the United Kingdom under the Chevening and Commonwealth scholarship programs. The scholars were chosen based on their academic excellence, leadership potential, and dedication to public service.

They will be studying at leading universities across the UK, focusing on fields deemed crucial for Pakistan's development. British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Jane Marriott, emphasized that the scholarships exemplify the UK-Pakistan partnership by investing in individuals with the talent, ambition, and purpose to effect change.

The scholars will be pursuing master's and other postgraduate programs in areas such as education, governance, health, climate action, business, and civil society. They will be attending universities in cities including Bristol, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and London, with their programs ranging from global health and human rights to innovation, entrepreneurship, development economics, biological robotics, and diplomacy.

Upon their return to Pakistan, the scholars will join a growing network of nearly 2,000 Chevening and over 1,500 Commonwealth alumni, which works across sectors including education, governance, health, climate, business, and civil society. The British High Commission is collaborating with local partners to expand scholarship opportunities for Pakistanis in areas considered national priorities, such as heritage, climate studies, sports, and business.

The commission also highlighted the diversity of the latest cohort, with scholars hailing from different parts of Pakistan and various professional and social backgrounds, including a significant number of women.
