Mahama announces construction of 30 new E-block schools under Star J Project

President John Dramani Mahama has unveiled a plan to construct 30 new E-block secondary schools across Ghana, as part of his government's Star J Project. These schools, to be built from scratch, will primarily serve as community day schools in densely populated areas. Speaking in Paga, Upper East Region, Mahama highlighted the initiative's aim to bring secondary education closer to children, especially those in heavily populated regions.

He emphasized that these new facilities would be distinct from the abandoned E-block projects inherited by his administration, which are currently being completed. Mahama stated that the new schools would be strategically located in high population density areas, prioritizing major cities and other densely populated communities.

This approach would reduce travel distances for students, making secondary education more accessible. He acknowledged that some earlier E-block schools were converted into boarding facilities due to long daily commutes required in rural districts. However, the new schools will be located to serve communities with high populations, improving access to secondary education.
