Lee reportedly holds golf outings with senior opposition lawmakers

President Lee Jae Myung has organized golf outings with senior lawmakers from the main opposition People Power Party (PPP), according to sources. The gatherings took place in June with Rep. Joo Ho-young, a former deputy speaker from Daegu, and Rep. Park Duk-hyum, the current deputy speaker. All former and current Assembly speakers and deputy speakers were reportedly invited.

Assembly Speaker Cho Jeong-sik attended one round, while former Speaker Woo Won-shik opted out due to lack of interest in the sport. The lawmakers discussed regional concerns, such as the integration of Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province. While Lee stated that further administrative integration is unlikely before the 2030 local elections, the meetings aim to facilitate communication with opposition lawmakers, according to a senior opposition official.
