KPM teliti isu aku janji perlindungan murid, kata Fadhlina

Kementerian Pendidikan (KPM) will hold a special session with stakeholders to explain the police protection pledge for schools, after concerns were raised that it may put teachers at risk, says Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek. The move comes as a response to address and investigate every concern expressed by teachers regarding the implementation of the related police protection.

"I understand the necessity expressed by teachers concerning the police protection for schools. For now, I urge all teachers to remain calm and give space to KPM to fully explain this matter," she stated on Facebook. According to Fadhlina, the related police protection refers to comprehensive protection for all parties involved with students, including detailed guidelines on responsibility and discipline if any incident occurs in the school.

Furthermore, KPM's priority is to protect students, teachers, and the entire school community through a safe and responsible environment. Just yesterday, the National Union of Teachers and Technicians (NUTP) raised concerns about the commitment signatory form, citing that the mandatory act of signing the commitment may be coercive and undermine the efforts and services of teachers in the past.

Setiausaha Agung Fouzi Singon emphasized that making signing the commitment mandatory is unjust and not in the best interest of the teachers' current and past services. He also urged everyone not to sign the commitment, while urging schools not to force teachers to do so until joint approval is obtained.
