Karnataka Bandh is in effect today as farmers and various Kannada organisations protest against the Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) order. The 12-hour statewide agitation began at 6:00 AM and will continue until 6:00 PM. Pro-Kannada activists, including Vatal Nagaraj, the convener of the Kannada Chalavali Vatal Paksha, launched the call demanding the withdrawal of the CWMA order that directed the state to release 12,000 cusecs of water daily to Tamil Nadu for 15 days starting August 12.

While schools, colleges, offices, shops, commercial establishments, public transport, and banks remain operational, pro-Kannada activists warn against participating in the bandh under coercion or threat. The Bengaluru City Police have cautioned against the spread of unverified information on social media, urging the public to verify the authenticity of shared content.

Despite the statewide bandh, commercial establishments, including shops and hotels, as well as autos and taxis, have continued their operations without disruption.
