Kaizer Chiefs to treat Mamelodi Sundowns clash as a privilege rather than pressure

Kaizer Chiefs prepare to face Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon, marking the opportunity to bring joy and pride to their supporters. The team has enjoyed a flawless start to their Betway Premiership campaign, defeating Kruger United 3-1 and Sekhukhune United 2-0 in their opening matches. However, they will face their most formidable challenge yet when they take on the reigning CAF Champions League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Following their 2-0 victory over Sekhukhune, head coach Fernando da Cruz emphasized that they must elevate their performance on Saturday to match Sundowns' standards and assess their readiness for the season. Defender Inacio Miguel, speaking at the pre-match press conference, reiterated that they will approach the encounter like any other game, adhering to the plans they have set for themselves throughout the season.

"The message is clear: we fear no one," Miguel stated. "No matter if they are champions of the Champions League or the PSL top-flight. We'll face them like we faced Sekhukhune, starting the game with the same ambition and fighting spirit."

Miguel further clarified that the team is not under pressure heading into the match, as they believe they owe it to the club, their supporters, and themselves to deliver an enjoyable performance. "I always say to the young boys that we have no pressure," Miguel explained. "Pressure is when you have to feed your family, and you can’t go out to work.

Pressure is when you have someone in the hospital, and you can’t visit them. Playing for Chiefs in a big game is not pressure, but a privilege." He added, "That privilege obviously comes with responsibilities. How we change the word privilege to responsibility is what is important. We'll face Sundowns with responsibility. There's no more beautiful thing. There's no better game to play."
