The haze has been a persistent issue in Malaysia, with 10 areas nationwide currently experiencing unhealthy air pollution levels, according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System. In Sarawak, seven areas recorded unhealthy readings, including Serian, Samarahan, Kuching, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Mukah, and Sibu. On the Peninsula, three areas - Johan Setia, Shah Alam in Selangor, and Cheras in Kuala Lumpur - also recorded unhealthy API readings.

Meanwhile, 56 areas recorded API readings at a moderate level, while only two areas measured good air quality. API readings range from zero to 300, with the latter category indicating hazardous air quality. The data is collected hourly from 68 air quality monitoring stations across the country.
