Health Minister gives newly recruited health professionals August 20 reporting deadline

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has set a critical deadline for newly recruited health professionals to report to their designated health facilities by Thursday, August 20, 2026. This directive, announced during a meeting with the Coalition of Unpaid Nurses and Midwives, aims to ensure that health facilities are adequately staffed and to prevent the accumulation of salary arrears, which had impacted recruits in past years.

Mr Akandoh assured that financial clearance had been obtained prior to the recruitment exercise, guaranteeing that early reporters would receive their salaries. He emphasized that any health professionals failing to report by the deadline risk losing their appointments and could be replaced in a subsequent mop-up exercise. The Ministry intends to swiftly address vacancies created by recruits who fail to accept their postings, addressing immediate staffing needs across the country's health infrastructure.
