Williamson, who has been sidelined since late April due to "shoulder fatigue," threw 31 pitches in two innings of scoreless relief in his latest rehab outing before the game was halted due to inclement weather. He continued his simulated bullpen session, completing two additional innings, bringing his total pitch count to 65. Reds' manager Terry Francona highlighted Williamson's accomplishment, stating, "Now it's not a game, but he got to 65."

Williamson is slated to make another rehab start on Sunday, August 16. Manager Francona emphasized the uncertainty surrounding the timeline, as the team will need to assess Williamson's performance in the upcoming eight games at home, including a doubleheader against the Cardinals on August 17. With Hunter Greene expected to remain sidelined until at least the following season, Williamson's performance in these rehab starts could prove pivotal for the Reds' long-term plans.

Currently, the Reds' rotation features Andrew Abbott, Rhett Lowder, Brady Singer, Chase Burns, and Nick Lodolo, with Singer being a free agent at the season's end but a potential candidate for a new contract or qualifying offer. The remaining four pitchers are under club control for the next season.
