명지대, 'GRRC 반도체진단연구센터' 출범… 반도체 소부장 산학연 허브 구축

The inauguration of the GRRC Semiconductor Diagnosis Research Center at Kangwon National University took place on August 13th at the Next Fusion Technology Research Institute. Hosted by the GRRC, a project led by Kangwon Province, this event marked the official launching of the center and shared its vision and future research plans.

The ceremony featured key university figures, including President Kim Yeon-su, as well as researchers and representatives from various institutions. External attendees included Kangwon Province's Semiconductor Industry Director, (K)GRRC Association President Seo Su-jung, and GRRC Center Director Park Jong-wook, among other industry partners.

President Kim Yeon-su highlighted GRRC's strategic importance, stating that Yongin is set to become the core hub for South Korea's semiconductor industry, as the university has built up a strong research foundation since establishing the Semiconductor Process Diagnosis Institute in 2010. The center will serve as a platform for joint research with 10 participating companies, conducting testing, evaluation, technology transfer, and commercialization.

President Kim also emphasized the center's role in sharing university infrastructure with local businesses, solving R&D challenges for small and medium-sized enterprises in the province, and providing practical, job-ready talent to support technology independence. Following the center introduction, three research teams unveiled their strategic plans: the Semiconductor Process Equipment Research Team, the Advanced Packaging Research Team, and the Semiconductor Eco-Friendly Materials Research Team.

Meanwhile, the Korea Regional Cooperation Research Center (GRRC) project aims to strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises' technology development capabilities by leveraging university research resources, facilitating technology transfer and commercialization, and producing skilled professionals in applied sciences and technology.

The GRRC Semiconductor Diagnosis Research Center is set to function as the "Kangwon Province Semiconductor Industry-School Partnership Hub," providing comprehensive support in semiconductor process equipment data analysis, advanced packaging validation, and eco-friendly eco-patent utilization.
