Germany's next heatwave peaks Friday, 39C "cannot be ruled out"

Germany's next heatwave is expected to peak on Friday at temperatures reaching up to 39°C, according to the German Weather Service (DWD). The forecast predicts temperatures will start to rise on Thursday, with many areas across the country experiencing highs between 30 and 37°C. Northern Germany will be predominantly cloudy during this period, but the heat will still be felt as temperatures climb.

However, the hottest regions in the west and southwest could see temperatures soar to 39°C on Friday. These extreme temperatures are not expected to be limited to Friday alone, as temperatures may still climb to the aforementioned range across the country on the following day. However, temperatures should begin to drop on Saturday.

The DWD meteorologist, Markus Übel, noted that in the north-west region, temperatures will no longer reach the 30-degree mark. In contrast, the east and south areas will still see sunny weather with temperatures ranging from 30 to 37°C. Depending on weather developments, the DWD may issue heat warnings for both Friday and Saturday.

Once temperatures begin to fall on Sunday, the likelihood of rain and stormy weather will increase. Over the coming weeks, much of the country is anticipated to receive rain, though the extent and intensity of this precipitation will vary significantly according to different meteorological models.
