Freddie Freeman exits Dodgers-Royals game after scary fall into dugout

Freddie Freeman, a star player for the Los Angeles Dodgers, left Wednesday night's game against the Kansas City Royals abruptly after falling into the Royals' dugout while attempting to catch a foul ball. The incident occurred during the eighth inning when Royals' Isaac Collins hit a foul popup. As Freeman aimed to make the catch, he approached the Royals' dugout and took a tumble down the stairs leading to it.

Freeman continued to play at first base after being assessed by the team's medical staff. Tommy Edman came in to pinch-hit for him in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Dodgers emerged victorious in the game, winning 4-2. Following the game, Freeman disclosed to reporters that he was experiencing discomfort, specifically in his kneecaps, shoulders, hands, and wrists. He emphasized that he had not hit his head during the fall.

Freeman attributed his misstep to a miscalculation regarding the location of the dugout railing. He explained that he attempted to lean against the railing while tracking the ball but found that there was no railing in place. Dodger manager Dave Roberts deemed Freeman's situation as day-to-day and expressed relief at dodging a potential injury.
