Field of Dreams nostalgia lives on through the Ghost Players and their passion for Iowa and baseball

Nearly four decades after the iconic movie "Field of Dreams" brought a group of deceased baseball players to life through a makeshift diamond on an Iowa farm, a group of dedicated individuals known as the Ghost Players continue to preserve the charm of the cornfield. Keith Rahe, the mastermind behind the Ghost Players, initiated the tradition nearly 40 years ago and remains committed to maintaining the mystique of the site.

The Ghost Players, a traveling troupe, initially gathered in 1990 to play catch and pitch to tourists, inspired by the baseball scenes captured on film. The event sparked interest, leading to the birth of the Ghost Players' annual appearances and the subsequent expansion of their international reach.

Currently, the Ghost Players, under Rahe's leadership as the executive director of Dyersville Events, have made a significant impact, entertaining tourists and fans at the site near the filming location. The group has even traveled to 28 countries and numerous states, showcasing their passion for the sport and the legacy of "Field of Dreams."

While the Ghost Players have appeared at three Major League Baseball games, the experience of playing at the iconic field remains unparalleled, as it holds a special place in their hearts. The group has also visited Chisholm, Minnesota, for the "Doc Moonlight Graham Days" festival, honoring the film's doctor-turned-baseball-player turned physician, Doc Moonlight Graham.
