Efforts underway to clear Ofankor Barrier accident scene

Efforts are in motion to clear the scene of a fatal accident that took place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Ofankor Barrier Road. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) reported that ten individuals have been confirmed dead, while others sustained injuries following the collision involving seven vehicles and an Aboboyaa. Traffic congestion has been severe in the vicinity, and the GNFS, in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service, is conducting investigations to determine the factors that contributed to the crash.

Mayor Michael Kpakpo Allotey of Accra has appealed to the public to concentrate on providing assistance to accident victims rather than capturing images or videos at the scene. He also mentioned that measures will be implemented to deter drivers from stopping in the inner lane to pick up or drop off passengers, as part of improving traffic flow and enhancing road safety. The ongoing clearance of the road is causing significant disruption in the area.
