Dr. Kokofu pledges historic homecoming conference to drive construction of NPP Ashanti office complex

Former Bantama MP and Environmental Protection Authority Executive Director, Dr Henry Kwabena Kokofu, has pledged to hold a historic homecoming conference as part of his campaign to build a fitting regional headquarters for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region. Kokofu, who is contesting the regional chairmanship of the NPP, expressed disappointment over the NPP's failure to construct a permanent office despite years of financial contributions from party financiers and sympathisers.

He lamented that the absence of a proper regional office in the party's traditional stronghold is a significant indictment on the leadership of the party in the region. Dr Kokofu revealed that a committee was previously set up to mobilize funds from party financiers and sympathisers towards the construction of the regional office, but nothing has been done with the raised money.

He also noted that the current chairman of the committee responsible for the project, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, and one of his supporters, Kofi Nti, were previously associated with the initiative. According to Dr Kokofu, plans for the construction of the Ashanti Regional office complex are far advanced, with architectural drawings finalized and arrangements in place.

He disclosed that between 35 and 40 Ghanaians of Ashanti descent, both locally and in the diaspora, have shown their willingness to financially support the project. If elected Regional Chairman, Dr Kokofu promised to first focus on uniting party members through a historic homecoming conference before pushing for the construction of the regional office.
