DIB launches its first Youth Council to develop the next generation of talent

DIB, the world's leading Islamic financial group and the largest Islamic bank in the UAE, has introduced its first Youth Council to cultivate the next generation of talent. The Council comprises eight members from various backgrounds and operates on a two-year cycle, engaging in regular meetings, leadership engagement, and focused project discussions to generate practical ideas for areas such as customer experience, employee engagement, brand relevance, and innovation.

Dr. Adnan Chilwan, Group Chief Executive Officer of DIB, emphasizes the importance of investing in young people, stating that youth empowerment requires access, responsibility, and the opportunity to influence an organization's evolution. The initiative aims to strengthen young employees' contribution to DIB today while developing their capabilities and confidence to lead in the future.

The launch of the Youth Council coincides with International Youth Day on August 12th, with a dialogue between the members and Dr. Chilwan under the theme "A Conversation with Future Leaders." During this dialogue, members expressed their perspectives on their role and aspirations, as well as how they can contribute to the organization's development. They also made a pledge to the Council, signifying their two-year commitment to active participation within DIB.

Dr. Chilwan highlights that the Council is part of DIB's broader commitment to preparing the next generation for the opportunities and responsibilities ahead. He believes that the ambitions of the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, will ultimately be carried forward by people, and developing young talent is crucial not only for DIB's future but also for the economy and society they serve.

Rafia Al Abbar, Head of Human Resources at DIB, explains that the Council's value will be measured by the contributions made by its members. It provides a structured way for DIB to listen to young employees' perspectives, understand the challenges they face, and convert relevant ideas into practical initiatives that can benefit the organization.

The Council also empowers members to take ownership, collaborate across different areas, and develop through real participation, with the organization creating the right framework for their energy and ideas to be channeled constructively.
