DAP northern delegates gather to discuss party’s future ahead of Aug 16 national congress

GEORGE TOWN, Aug 13 - Approximately 400 delegates from the Democratic Action Party (DAP) in Penang, Kedah, and Perlis convened for a gathering with party secretary-general Anthony Loke Siew Fook and the Central Executive Committee leadership. The event, held on the eve of the party's national congress on Aug 16, provided a forum for delegates to discuss party matters, national issues, and the party's future trajectory.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, via a Facebook post, emphasized that the session also aimed to bolster unity among members ahead of the congress in Putrajaya.

Chow expressed gratitude to Loke, party leaders, delegates, and northern region comrades for their attendance and valuable input. The forthcoming congress is anticipated to feature discussions on the party's stance and direction within the Unity Government. This engagement session comes in the wake of a recent decision by the Perak DAP to continue its membership in the Unity Government until the end of the current parliamentary term.

Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming had previously stated that remaining in the government would enable the party to contribute to policy-making while honoring its commitment to voters.
