‘Coyote vs. Acme’ was canned by Warner Bros. But 3 years later, that’s not all folks

"Coyote vs. Acme," a Looney Tunes-meets-live-action film directed by Dave Green, was abruptly canceled by Warner Bros. before its premiere. The movie, inspired by the "Shouts and Murmurs" column from The New Yorker, had garnered positive audience test scores and was set to star Will Forte as Wile E. Coyote's attorney. Before Forte could see the finished product, the studio decided to scrap the entire project, opting to take a tax write-off instead of incurring marketing costs.

Despite the studio's decision, the film found new life after an outcry from fans, filmmakers, and even politicians. Warner Bros. eventually sold the rights to Ketchup Entertainment, and "Coyote vs. Acme" is set to premiere on August 28. Director Green and the film's cast and crew have embraced the movie's unique history, promoting it as "the film ACME didn't want you to see."
