Commuter falls onto tracks at Gombak LRT station

A Rapid KL commuter fell onto the tracks at the Gombak LRT station this morning, Rapid KL disclosed in a statement. The individual reportedly fainted prior to the incident. Following the occurrence at 9:05am, Rapid KL's Platform Intrusion Emergency Stop system was triggered, leading to a temporary suspension of power to the tracks for safety purposes.

The rail operator's operations team and auxiliary police swiftly responded, aiding the passenger out of harm's way and transporting them to Tawakkal Specialist Hospital in Kuala Lumpur for comprehensive evaluation and care. Once deemed safe, train services resumed at 9:12am. Earlier in the morning, the Kelana Jaya LRT line experienced a power disruption, causing a train to be halted between the Taman Jaya and Universiti stations.

While Rapid KL is currently investigating the incident, a witness reported a distinct boom before the train came to an abrupt halt, causing several individuals to lose their balance and fall. Nevertheless, Rapid KL affirmed that no injuries were sustained. The stranded train remained stationary on the tracks for approximately 20 minutes before Rapid KL personnel intervened, assisting passengers to another train.

The affected train was subsequently removed from service for inspection, and the Kelana Jaya LRT line resumed operations at 10:25am.
