Chow brushes off Guan Eng’s call to ‘act decisively’ on BN

Chow Kon Yeow, the chairman of Penang's Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration, has rejected Lim Guan Eng's plea for the state chapter to take a firm stance regarding its ties with Barisan Nasional (BN). As the chief minister, Chow reaffirmed the PH's commitment to maintain its cooperative relationship with the BN in the Penang government. He stated that the matter was not raised during yesterday's engagement involving northern DAP delegates, indicating that there was no opposition to the current decision.

During a recent green energy conference at the Eastin Hotel in Bayan Lepas, Chow addressed Lim's call for decisive action. Lim had urged the PH leadership to act decisively, pointing out that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) had become Umno's staunch ally. In response, Chow's PH leadership unanimously decided to retain Rashidi Zinol as the sole executive councillor of BN in the state administration.

This decision drew criticism from Lim, who deemed it incomprehensible and essentially an unconditional endorsement of Umno's role in the state government.

Furthermore, Lim accused the Penang PH of failing to denounce Reezal Merican, a member of Umno's Supreme Council. Reezal had made remarks suggesting that the DAP and PKR parties were focused on a single race.
