Bring your spreadsheet data to life with Sheets canvas

Google Sheets is introducing Sheets canvas, a tool that leverages artificial intelligence to transform data into interactive, visual mini-apps without requiring any coding knowledge. Users can simply describe their needs to Gemini, and it will create custom layouts such as study trackers or seating charts that automatically sync with the original spreadsheet.

To begin, open a sheet and click the Gemini icon to select "create canvas." This new feature, called Sheets canvas, turns rows of data into easy-to-read apps, making it easier to organize various projects like school assignments, sports stats, event planning, or tracking side hustle income. Spreadsheets can sometimes feel overwhelming with hundreds of rows and columns, but Sheets canvas simplifies this by allowing users to visualize and understand their data quickly.

It functions as a dynamic, read-write layer on top of spreadsheet data, enabling users to edit and navigate their data in any desired layout. The examples provided include turning a list of assignments into an interactive study aid, creating a fantasy team dashboard, and converting guest RSVP data into an interactive seating chart.

Sheets canvas is currently available globally in English to Google AI Pro, Ultra subscribers, Google Workspace customers on Business or Enterprise Standard and Plus plans, and Google AI Pro for Education add-on subscribers. To get started, open a Google Sheets spreadsheet and select "Create canvas" in the Ask Gemini side panel.
