Bengaluru, parking car outside your house? Pay up to ₹25,000 based on car you own

The draft Greater Bengaluru Authority (Parking) Rules, 2026, published by the Karnataka Government, proposes to impose annual parking fees of up to ₹25,000 for residents parking their vehicles outside their homes on public roads. The fee depends on the type of car owned, with hatchbacks requiring a minimum fee of ₹15,000, sedans ₹20,000, and SUVs ₹25,000.

Residents are only allowed to park their vehicles on roads designated for residential parking within a reasonable walking distance of their homes. Violations, such as parking on non-arterial and sub-arterial roads, may result in fines imposed by the Bengaluru Traffic Police. Permits will be issued to residents of residential buildings that adhere to minimum parking requirements, and will be valid for a year. The GBA is accepting objections and suggestions on the draft rules.
