Batwara 1947 Review LIVE Updates: Sunny Deol film ‘deeply sensitive, moving’, says first review

A Sunny Deol film titled "Batwara 1947" is set for a theater release on August 14, 2026. Preity Zinta is also part of the cast, along with Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol. The movie is being directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. According to a recent report by Sacnilk, the film has garnered approximately 34,246 advance bookings across over 6,700 showings in India.

This pre-sale gross amounts to around Rs 95.09 lakh, excluding any pre-blocked seats. With the inclusion of blocked seats, the estimated gross from advance bookings rises to nearly Rs 2.87 crore.

The anticipation for "Batwara 1947" is heightened by its release coinciding with the Independence Day weekend, providing the film a potential boost from the holiday. However, the movie will be up against another upcoming film, "Awarapan 2," starring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani. Currently, early advance-booking statistics show "Awarapan 2" ahead of "Batwara 1947," making the Independence Day weekend an intriguing showdown at the box office.

Trade analyst Sumit Kadel anticipates that "Batwara 1947" could secure a net opening of Rs 7-9 crore on its first Friday.
