Awarapan 2 Review and Release LIVE Updates: Emraan Hashmi’s film eyes Rs 20 cr opening

Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani, is generating strong anticipation ahead of its theatrical debut on August 14. The film, a sequel to the 2007 cult hit Awarapan, is drawing attention due to its nostalgic appeal and the return of Emraan's character, Shivam Pandit. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Awarapan 2 is poised for a robust opening at the box office, with an estimated Rs 20 crore net collection on its first day.

The movie has already sold over 1.25 lakh tickets, generating approximately Rs 4 crore gross, while pre-sales, inclusive of blocked seats, have exceeded Rs 6 crore, potentially reaching around Rs 10 crore before the initial show. This projection is notably higher than earlier estimates of Rs 12-15 crore, which could position Emraan Hashmi for his biggest solo opening.

The emotional resonance of the original film, alongside its music and nostalgic elements, is contributing to the early box office buzz. Trade analyst Komal Nahta commented on CNBC TV18, "From advance booking status, it appears that the start of Awarapan 2 will be better. And understandably so because its trailer and songs have been liked by the youth; and youngsters are the first-day audience. Batwara 1947 will have to rely heavily on word-of-mouth and older audience."
