Anupama opens up about ‘narcissistic abuse’ after break up post hinting at Dhruv Vikram

Anupama Parameswaran, a well-known actress who has acted in films such as Premam, Karthikeya 2, and Tillu Square, has recently shared her harrowing experience of enduring two years of narcissistic abuse in a past relationship. This revelation came just weeks after Anupama posted cryptic messages on Instagram that hinted at a possible breakup with actor Dhruv Vikram, sparking widespread speculation.

In an interview with Dhanya Varma, Anupama detailed the physical and emotional devastation the relationship inflicted upon her, without naming her ex-partner. She emphasized that the Instagram post was a deeply personal milestone, shared only after she felt she had fully healed. Anupama drew parallels with the character Anniyan from the film Shankar's Anniyan, whose personality shifts drastically between different personas - Remo, a loving and caring figure, and Anniyan, a brutal and cruel counterpart.

This duality mirrored the erratic behavior she experienced from her ex-partner, who would alternately shower her with affection and then act coldly, leaving Anupama in a constant state of fear. The actress highlighted how she felt her personal growth stagnated during this tumultuous period, as she lived in constant dread about which version of her partner she would encounter.

When discussing public reactions to conversations about narcissistic abuse, Anupama divided people into four categories. The most concerning group, in her view, were those who had experienced similar abuse but were unaware of its true nature. She expressed concern for individuals in this category, as they might be trapped in a cycle of abuse without recognizing it.

Despite the break-up between Anupama and Dhruv Vikram never being officially confirmed, the actress' candid disclosure sheds light on the insidious nature of narcissistic abuse and the importance of recognizing its signs early on.
