The ground forces view the event seriously and will conduct an internal inquiry to determine the cause of the incident. Earlier, a soldier was reported to have sustained injuries on his face after being shot, believed to have been fired at by his own brother while at the Sungai Menyala firing range in Port Dickson. Deputy Chief of Police for Negeri Sembilan, Mohd Nasharudin Mohd Shariff, said a soldier was detained after his brother sustained a gunshot wound during the firing exercise at Sungai Menyala firing range in Port Dickson.

The victim was taken to Port Dickson Hospital for initial treatment before being transferred to Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban for further care. "The case is being investigated under Section 37 of the Firearms Act 1960 and Section 337 of the Criminal Procedure Code," the statement said.
