Al-Azhar Grand Imam, Qatar ambassador discuss expanding academic, religious cooperation

Al-Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed al-Tayyeb and Qatar's Ambassador to Egypt, Jassem bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, met on Wednesday to explore avenues for enhancing academic and religious ties between Al-Azhar and Qatar. Tayyeb emphasized the long-standing relationship between the two entities and expressed Al-Azhar's eagerness to broaden their collaboration through various means.

These include offering scholarships for Islamic and Arabic studies, facilitating academic exchanges, and undertaking joint research projects. The discussion also touched upon bolstering partnerships between Al-Azhar University and Qatari universities, alongside training Qatari imams and preachers at Al-Azhar's international academy for imams and preachers.

Qatar's ambassador expressed his enthusiasm for a deeper partnership with Al-Azhar, lauding the Grand Imam's dedication to upholding sound Islamic teachings, brotherhood, and peaceful coexistence.
