Adeleke camp demands probe into Osun political violence

The Imole Campaign Council has demanded an urgent investigation into political violence in Esa Oke, Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State. The council, led by legal practitioner and spokesperson Pelumi Olajengbesi, presented a petition on August 13, 2026, accusing unidentified individuals of killing Dele Ayegbo and Ajayi Aderogba, both reportedly linked to political activities.

Ayegbo, nephew of the All Progressives Congress governorship campaign Director-General, Wole Oke, was killed on Wednesday night. The council claims that the killings involve members of the Accord Party (APC) and calls for a thorough, independent investigation. They reject efforts to assign responsibility without such an investigation and emphasize the need to protect human life and uncover the truth behind the violence.

The council urged the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to conduct the investigation, which should include an examination of audiovisual recordings of alleged inflammatory remarks and an urgent fact-finding visit to Esa Oke. They also demanded appropriate compensation for victims and families and immediate security measures to protect residents during the election period.
