7 miners abducted from Balochistan's Chagai

Quetta, Pakistan: A group of seven miners were abducted from their workplace in Chagai district on Wednesday, officials confirmed. The incident occurred in the Mahian Kaur area, approximately 18 kilometers west of Chagai town. The perpetrators were a group of eight armed men who arrived on motorcycles and forcefully took the miners hostage. The miners were held captive for seven hours before the attackers departed the scene.

The miners, taken hostage, included four laborers from Gilgit (Wajahat, Wajid Shahid, and Sabir) and three local workers from Mahian, Chagai, and Saeed Muhammad. According to sources at the mine, the armed men also took away several items, including vehicles, solar panels, machinery, fuel, and food supplies. The attackers fled the area without encountering any resistance.

Upon learning of the incident, the relevant authorities were immediately notified. However, as of the latest update, the abducted workers and stolen property had not been recovered. The administration has launched efforts to locate the abducted miners and recover the stolen equipment, while a thorough investigation into the incident is currently underway.
