1,816 Kg Dairy Analogue Products Worth ₹4.72 Lakh Seized In Indore

On Wednesday, the Food Safety Administration in Indore seized around 1,816 kilograms of dairy analogue food products, estimated to be worth Rs 4.72 lakh. This was carried out in response to an order issued by the Madhya Pradesh government banning the manufacture, storage, sale, supply, distribution, and use of dairy analogues and misshapen dairy products. District Collector Shivam Verma directed officials to inspect various food establishments, who collected samples for laboratory testing.

At Umapati Industries in Palda, officials discovered low-fat paneer being manufactured and packed. They seized approximately 450 kilograms of paneer, valued at Rs 1.17 lakh, pending the results of laboratory tests. Poor drainage, dirty walls, and improper storage of raw materials were also identified as issues. Additionally, the paneer production unit was ordered to cease operations due to unsuitable manufacturing conditions.

In village Akwi, Mhow, Narayan Dairy had 350 kilograms of paneer, worth around Rs 1.05 lakh, seized. Three samples were collected for further investigation. Moreover, 716 kilograms of dairy analogue mawa, valued at Rs 2 lakh, was seized from Mohani Mawa Bhandar in Nanda Nagar, along with 300 kilograms of mawa, worth Rs 50,000, from Shri Balaji Trading on Bholaram Ustad Marg. All food samples from these establishments have been forwarded for testing.

The Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, will be enforced following the laboratory reports' receipt. Further action will be taken as per the guidelines.
