Woman arrested for stabbing husband to death in Abia

In Abia State, Nigeria, Sara Innocent has been apprehended for allegedly murdering her husband, Innocent Nwaoji, during a domestic altercation. According to the Abia State Police Command, the incident transpired on Saturday night at Umuokereke Ngwa, within Obingwa Local Government Area. The police spokesperson, Maureen Chinaka, disclosed that the command was alerted to the incident on 09/08/2026, following a report lodged at the Ohuru Isimiri Police Divisional Headquarters on 08/08/2026.

Chinaka stated that Mrs. Innocent, from Ohuru Isimiri Village, is accused of stabbing her husband in the chest with a kitchen knife during a dispute. The victim was taken to the hospital, where medical personnel confirmed his demise. The crime scene has been examined, and the deceased's body has been transported to the morgue for an autopsy.

The suspect remains in police custody, and an ongoing investigation is being conducted by the State Criminal Investigation Department. The couple, who married in December 2025, had been together for only eight months prior to the tragic event.
