Wa East Assembly commits GH¢2.3m to classroom projects in Katua, Goripie

The Wa East District Assembly has invested GH¢2.3 million in educational infrastructure projects for the Katua and Goripie communities. The Katua site will host a fully equipped three-unit classroom block, while Goripie will receive a two-unit kindergarten block. District Chief Executive Adamu Sayibu believes these developments address critical infrastructure gaps and enhance teaching conditions.

The Katua project, funded by the District Assemblies Common Fund, includes a mechanized borehole for water access. Meanwhile, the Goripie kindergarten block, valued at GH¢750,000, aims to replace an inadequate structure. The Wa East Human Resource Director for the Ghana Education Service, Mohammed Damba Issah, noted that school congestion is a persistent issue, particularly at Katua Junior High School, which lacks a dedicated classroom block.

District Deputy Engineer Isaac Lawerh emphasized that the new facilities will feature modern amenities, including KVIPs, changing rooms, and specialized furniture for kindergarteners. The contractor managing the Katua project, Abubakari Suleman Wataara, pledged to deliver high-quality work. Assembly Member for Katua, Jatoe Osman, welcomed the initiative and pledged community support, ensuring a conducive environment for construction.
